On June 6, a ranger found the body of a 26-year-old hiker in the Mystery Canyon, according to a news release from the park.
Officials said the search and rescue began on Saturday following reports from park visitors that the woman had fallen 50 to 80 feet in the canyon.
The Rangers said she was canyoning in the Mystery Canyon when she was injured to coincide with a fall from a height. A rescue helicopter was dispatched to rescue her because the canyon wall was narrow. I couldn’t. Park medics contacted her shortly before she died.
The investigation is underway by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the National Park Service.
