Washington, District of Columbia 2021-05-31 22:55:24 –

A woman’s car was stolen twice in 24 hours, the second after DC police discovered it and notified her.

News4 learned that an internal investigation into the case was underway. Car owner Yasmine is still wondering what happened.

A 21-year-old woman from Clarksburg, Maryland, dashes out of her car to the entrance to an apartment building during a downpour on Friday night, delivering an Instacart to the woman waiting there. I handed it over.

“I turned around and saw three kids surrounding my car. It happened very fast before I did anything. They ran away in my car.” She said.

In an instant, her locked silver Mercedes disappeared from Fenton Street in Silver Spring.

Around 10 am on Saturday, Yasmine was called by a Washington, DC police officer and said her car was found in an alley behind 1400 blocks on Chapan Street NW.

She said a policeman told her that he was in the car.

Mr. Yasmine said he tried to find a spare key but couldn’t find it, so the police officer told her that he needed to tow the key.

“But he told me that it would be a better decision for me to call my insurance and get them tow me, and I wouldn’t be charged for it.” Yasmine said.

It took me a while to call her insurance company to arrange a tow for a holiday weekend. Finally, after 6 pm, she and the tow truck driver, who had been making phone adjustments, were a few blocks away from Chapan Street.

At that time, she also received a phone call saying that her car had been stolen.

“I got a call from a police officer telling me that my car was gone,” Yasmine said.

A friend who drove Yasmine to the police station in District 3 recorded a video in an attempt to get some answers about how the car was stolen a second time.

As Yasmine says, “No, you didn’t.

“MPD is aware of this case. An internal investigation is currently underway to determine if it has violated the policy. MPD is in contact with the plaintiff to address her concerns. “The DC Police said in a statement to News4.

Police are seeking information from someone in the area who may have a back alley security camera video on Friday night or Saturday morning.
