Lexington, Kentucky (LEX 18) — Two girls are helping Lexington’s family prepare for the school year.

Ashanti and Amya Cloud are packing trailers full of school supplies to donate to children in need.

They tell us that it started with a lawn mowing challenge. Now they are asking for your help as the kids prepare for the school year.

This weekend, they’re heading out to the Loews parking lot in Hamburg.

They want to procure enough supplies to meet the 100 backpacks given to elementary school students.

All that remains will be sent to junior and senior high school students at Brian Station.

“I just want to see everyone go back to school with what they need to go back to school, and girls with a sense of accomplishment that they can give back to the community. And maybe other people where to put it out. I’m also happy to give back to the community and hope to make a difference, “said Tabisa Pratt, whose daughters started” You Mow Girls. “

If they miss a donation over the last two days, they say they still have time to join. On Sundays, girls will be back there from 10 to 4.

We will start distributing backpacks from August 5th.
