Red Cross volunteers are heading from Quincy to New Jersey to deal with the devastating hurricane Ida that occurred last week.

Volunteer Peter Schubert said he and other volunteers would deliver food to shelters or directly to neighbors. Another volunteer, Bonny Norton, encouraged others to join and support the organization.

“When you can put your boots on the ground and be there and see the facial expressions of people … you need to help,” Norton said. “I say go out and try it. See how it warms your mind and how it makes you feel. You make it a lot You’ll want to do it. “
