Young Iguana Found Under Hood of DPW Truck in Hull; Owner Sought – NBC Boston – Boston, Massachusetts

She is now safe and healthy, but the young iguana has taken a considerable adventure.

She was found by a stunned DPW worker in the engine compartment of a DPW pickup truck in Hull, Massachusetts.

“It scared him a lot,” said Leslie Badger, a Hingham park ranger who handles Hingham, Hull, and Cohasset. “And he bounced back and understood what it was.”

Badgers don’t know how Iguana got under the hood, and whether she was abandoned or took off from someone’s house.

“Did the person no longer be able to take care of her and someone decided to release her, or did she just escape from the enclosure, as we wanted,” said the badger. Badger.

Badgers say they are likely to come from somewhere around the South Shore and are well cared for.

“Someone apparently spent some time and effort raising and caring for her,” said the badger. “So I’m sure someone loved her.”

They don’t know her name, but they know she’s about two years old, three pounds, and four feet long.

And she knows how to bolt it.

“I think she’s an escapologist,” said Dr. Greg Meltz.

She is already trying to escape from the temporary housing at the New England Wildlife Center in Weymouth.

“When we took her here, she also escaped from one of our cages and we had to go on a search mission,” Mertz said. “She is a busy girl.”

The pickup truck where the iguana was found hadn’t been used for about a week, so she could have been there for a long time, but so far there haven’t been any calls about the missing pet.

“We just gave her a blood test. We gave her an x-ray to make sure she wasn’t broken or otherwise injured,” Mertz said.

The iguana owner has seven days to claim her. If no one does, she will be adopted.
