Dr. Pawitta Kasemsap, Ph.D. of Optum NM Pediatrics, explains that mental health was a problem among young people before the pandemic, and only intensified it since it began.according to StaticsSuicide is the second leading cause of death, aged 10 to 24 years, across the country and in New Mexico. Dr. Kasemsap explains that many people who are affected by chronic stress and adversity are more susceptible to mental illness.
