Fashion e-tailer Zalando SE said on Friday that it had acquired a body scan company to solve the biggest question of people buying clothes online.
Zalando has acquired Zurich-based software company Fision. The company’s body scan app includes a virtual dressing room that allows buyers to easily determine if their clothes are the right size for them.
This undisclosed deal should help reduce the amount of clothing sent to buyers of the wrong size, which means less clothing will be returned.
“Customers can get size advice early in their relationship with Theland,” said Size and Fit Staciakar, Engineering Director at Theland.
“At the same time, we can create a feedback loop between brands and consumers that are designed to promote customer loyalty and reduce waste in the long run.”
