Zoltek Companies, Inc., a world leader in low-cost industrial-grade carbon fiber. Has expanded its carbon fiber production capacity to 13,000 MT at its facility in Guadalajara, Mexico. As a result of this expansion, Zoltek’s global production capacity for PX35 carbon fiber (including facilities in Hungary) will increase to 28,000 MT.

Zoltek’s PX3550K carbon fiber is an established standard for large industrial applications such as wind energy and automotive. The Toray Group’s mission is to commercialize carbon fiber and raise its position as a global leader in industrial carbon fiber.

“The demand for carbon fiber continues to grow as wind turbines continue to increase efficiency with longer, lighter blades, and we also see the development of automotive and energy storage applications. There are some positive macro trends that we expect to continue to support our rapid growth, “said David Purcell, Executive Vice President of Sales at Zoltek.

“We will continue to aggressively expand our capabilities to anticipate demand and ensure that we support customer agreements,” Purcell added.

Zoltek’s PX35 carbon fiber is the industry’s cost leader and the carbon fiber recommended for industrial applications because of the balance between cost and performance offered, the U.S.-based company said on its website. ..
