According to Grant Parish Sheriff Stephen McCain, Chris Ardoin was on stage at an event in central Louisiana, with about 20 bullets ringing from the crowd.
Ardoin and a 14-year-old child were beaten and both were hospitalized.Nothing was said about the child’s condition, but authorities said They told KALB-TV that their injuries were “moderate.”
“Yes, unfortunately tonight he was shot behind his right side on stage,” Aldoin’s wife, Kelly, said in a Facebook post. “The doctor thankfully said he was a man made. The bullet did not penetrate his lungs and stopped near his ribs.”
Investigators did not believe that either victim was the target, McCain said.
According to the sheriff’s office, the shooting caused a panic among the crowd of concert attendees.
“There were thousands of people at the event, many of whom soon began to leave.” Sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post..
His group was the headliner act of The Dico Bike Fest, a two-day event on the outskirts of Colfax, a town of about 1,500 people north of Alexandria in central Louisiana. It’s about 200 miles northeast of Houston.
Ardoin and his band Nustep Zydeko played frequently in the Houston area and recently played here last week.

Congressmen caught two armed men as they tried to escape the festival area, but it was not clear if they were shooters. Both faced assault charges.
