This is important because, when we MagSafe lovers have done with MagSafe Android phone cases a few years ago, there is always a caveat that this case may not work with all MagSafe products. While it’s similar, you may not like the faster charging speeds, it won’t be as energy efficient, and it’s not guaranteed to work with all Qi2 accessories. Golden says the Qi2 Ready phone has “special features built into people” to enable proper Qi2 functionality when paired with a Qi2 Ready case. Alas, as soon as you remove this Qi2 Ready case from your phone, the Magnetic function will disappear. This may not be a problem for most people. However, I worry that this will confuse the average person. The new phone will support Qi but not Qi2, but will have a Qi2 Ready case to enable Qi2—my brain hurts just writing this. If it only has native Qi2 support, the magnetic charger will work with Qi2 accessories. Easy peasy. The good news is that Samsung and Google have committed to launching an official Qi2 Android phone by 2025, so it’s still there, although it’s not surprising that Samsung won’t debut its flagship smartphone series. Will make it with a magnetic case (again), but for the love of God, can someone just give me a magnetic Android already?
