Sierra Space CEO Tom Vice is stepping down, CNBC reports

Tom Vice, CEO of private space technology company Sierra Space, has left the company, according to a CNBC report. Vice held the position for three and a half years, overseeing a $290 million fundraising for the VC-backed company valued at $5.3 billion in 2023 and securing a military satellite contract in early 2024. Despite some early success, Sierra Space, a spinout of aerospace contractor Sierra Nevada Corporation , has not yet started the first mission of the reusable cargo spaceplane, called Dream Chaser. Over the summer, delays caused the Dream Chaser launch to be dropped from the manifest for United Launch Alliance’s second Vulcan Centaur flight. During Vice’s tenure, Sierra Space experienced layoffs and executive turnover. Vice last year teased Sierra Space’s plans to go public by the end of 2025, though it’s unclear if those plans will continue under new leadership. Company chairman Faith Ozmen will serve as interim CEO.
