The Trump administration is negotiating a deal that would see Oracle take over TikTok alongside new US investors, according to a report on NPR. Lawmakers passed a bill last year that would have forced Chinese parent company ByteDance to sell TikTok or see it banned in the U.S. . prohibition. At the time, Trump also outlined his “preliminary thoughts” about a deal to save TikTok – creating a “joint venture between the current owners and/or new owners in which the US gets 50% ownership”. TikTok while ByteDance retained a minority stake. Trump tried to sell TikTok during his first term, with Oracle emerging as a potential buyer. When that didn’t happen, TikTok then said that all of its US traffic would go to Oracle’s servers. And in a press conference on Tuesday, Trump said that they would be open to X owner Elon Musk or Oracle chairman Larry Ellison buying the app.Meanwhile, some senators who support the ban or sale bill have expressed confusion over Trump’s plan and said the legislation would require a full divestment of ByteDance.
