X launches vertical video feed exclusively for US users

Social network X is trying to capitalize on removing ByteDance apps like TikTok and Lemon8 from US app stores by launching a dedicated vertical video feed. The company added a video tab to the bottom of the app for users in the US to quickly access video content on the platform. “A new immersive home for video is rolling out to users in the US today,” the company said in a post on Sunday. X users can already scroll through short videos by tapping on the video in the timeline and scrolling up. The new tab for this video is just a dedicated section for that video. Plus, this isn’t the first time the company has tried to create a new home for video. The app’s reverse engineer has previously previewed a media tab for video, but this is the first time X has made an official announcement. Social networks have lately focused on the video experience. Last year, it launched an independent TV app to share videos from various organizations and creators. With TikTok facing problems in the US, the social network is trying to take advantage of the uncertainty about the ByteDance application in the US Meta has announced a video editing application called Edits to compete with ByteDance’s CapCut, while its rival X Bluesky has launched a special feed for vertical videos.
