AMD says the new chip will provide an average performance increase of 8 percent in gaming framerate and a 10 percent increase in other tasks. AMD Ryzen AI 5, AI 7, and AI MaxKripik Ryzen AI is not an NPU but a CPU tuned for overall performance, including AI workloads. The first Ryzen AI CPU – the Ryzen AI 300 – was launched at the end of 2024, and a collection of faster follow-ups is coming soon, culminating in the Ryzen AI Max (available in seven different SKUs). With up to 16 cores and support for 128 GB of memory, AMD says AI Max offers 50 TOPS NPU performance. AMD naturally says that the Max is shy fast in all kinds of tasks-and boldly says that it can compete with the Apple M4 CPU in some people. Ryzen AI chips are also set to appear in mini PC designs. AMD Radeon RX 9070 SeriesAMD has not announced details about what will distinguish the latest GPU, except that the 9070 line is targeted at midrange users. More importantly, AMD’s naming scheme is evolving to be closer to how Nvidia names its products. The 9070 and 9070 XT will arrive this quarter. NvidiaNvidia CEO Jensen Huang took the stage in a bright jacket and spent nearly two hours describing the company’s upcoming plans—and as expected, almost all of them are about AI.
