Honor’s Magic 7 Pro is a great flagship Android phone that packs the latest AI features with state-of-the-art hardware. It excels everywhere that matters. You get an incredibly versatile camera, impressive stamina, fast charging, smooth performance, and a stunning display. Several subtle but important improvements over the predecessor elevate this smartphone to the level. Chinese phone maker Honor has impressed me with the latest hardware, from last year’s Magic 6 Pro to the impossibly svelte Honor Magic V3. This year, has paid more attention to the software with some welcome polish. Heavy investment in AI has matured, with more practical features in the Magic 7 Pro than ever before. This is a flagship that costs £1,099 ($1,346), and unfortunately it is not officially sold in the US. But UK and European buyers should not sleep on the Magic. Subtle RefinementsAt first glance, the Magic 7 Pro looks similar to the 6 Pro, but I like to find a flatter display and frame, making it more comfortable to use and less. prone to accidental touches from curved glass. Honor has reduced the camera module, although it is still large enough not to balance the phone. While this phone feels bulky after using the Pixel 9, it’s manageable. I’m not in love with the marble effect of the Lunar Shadow Gray review unit, but it’s more interesting than the blue or plain black alternatives. The 6.8-inch screen is as good as I’ve tested. It’s bright, smooth, and sharp. According to the numbers, it has a resolution of 2,800 x 1,200 pixels, a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and a brightness of 1,600 nits (up to 5,000 nits for highlights). Videos look great on the 7 Pro, with Dolby Vision and HDR Vivid support, and the speakers are nice and loud without distortion. Honor also includes several features intended to reduce fatigue and tension, but are difficult to measure. Photo: Simon Hill. It’s a compromise I can accept for the convenience of safely unlocking the face-rarity on Android phones, as it is even possible with the banking app. There is a lot of power under the hood with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and 12 GB RAM. As expected, the benchmark results are on top, and this phone can run anything. There’s also 512 GB of super-fast storage, which is more than most phones at this price offer. The Honor Magic 7 Pro also has an IP68 and IP69 rating, meaning it can be submerged and handle jets of water or steam. Inside, a higher level of polish is evident throughout. Honor talks about the AI in the Magic 7 Pro, and we will know the specific features, but they can be applied to the phone. AI has made its way into phone apps to reduce background noise and make voices clearer, and there are privacy features designed to prevent voice leaks and thwart eavesdroppers.
