Sony has released details of the Afeela brand it is launching with Honda, starting with the launch of the EV in 2023. But there are no important details – until now. Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida announced Monday at CES 2025 that the four-door Afeela EV will have a starting price of $89,900. The Sony-Honda brand will also offer a higher – and therefore more expensive – trim that starts at $102,900. Both versions of Afeela will include a three-year free subscription to certain functions and features. The company also announced that it has opened reservations for the Afeela EV. Customers in California can make reservations for a $200 refund fee. The Afeela is a four-door electric sedan intended to combine the reliability and manufacturing prowess of Honda and all the infotainment and software capabilities of entertainment technology company Sony. In an early concept shown to TechCrunch in 2023, the vehicle had a cinema-like look, plush seats and a yoke-like steering wheel. There are details like the strange concept – or lack thereof – such as the absence of door handles. The production version will likely be toned down and more realistic. For example, door handles of several types. But the interaction between software and hardware, like sensors and screens, will play a starring role. More details about Afeela are expected to be released Tuesday during a separate CES press conference.
