There are so many great TVs out there now, there’s a good chance that even the ones that didn’t make your top picks could be a good choice for you. Here are some favorites that you just missed. TCL Q6 (2024): This affordable model from TCL has some of the best highlights I’ve seen on a cheap TV without good local dimming. I love the beautiful colors, especially when watching modern classics like Dune or Mad Max Fury Road. Google’s built-in interface makes streaming and casting easy, and TCL has a history of making moderately priced screens that last, so you shouldn’t be too cross about your purchase. Sony Bravia 7: The Bravia 7 ( 7/10, WIRED Recommends ) is an excellent display, offering bright brightness, naturalistic colors, and a gentle attention to fine details. The biggest knock is the poor axis display, which might be hard to swallow with the high list price. If not, it is worth considering for fans of Sony shine, especially because Sony seems to uncharacteristically discount various model sizes. TCL QM7: There’s only one thing keeping the QM7 (6/10, WIRED Reviewed) off our top list: a software bug. During my review, I ran into a problem where setting the SDR backlight level was affected by HDR, which could result in severe brightness limitations. While TCL fixed the issue in a firmware update for me, it’s not available yet. Most folks probably do not have this problem, so the QM7 is still worth considering, and TCL expects a big firmware update in December.Samsung S95C: S95C (8/10, WIRED Recommendation) remains a fantastic choice when available. It might be a better choice for those who don’t want or need a matte screen in 2024. It’s still one of the best OLED TVs you can buy—especially given its seriously accessible sale price.Samsung QN90C: Another great deal while it’s still on available, the Samsung QN90C (8/10, WIRED Recommends) has long been one of our favorite brights. – Room TV. They come in a variety of sizes and provide bright and colorful images and a lot of great stuff – especially surprising given the ever-so-slight price tag.
