NEW YORK — An iconic sign of Christmas arrived in New York City on Saturday as cranes set up an 82-foot Norway spruce in Rockefeller Plaza, the 14-ton tree decked out in thousands of lights and studded with stars. There are millions of crystals.
The Christmas tree is officially lit on November 30th.
The nearly 90-year-old tree was felled Thursday and hoisted onto a flatbed truck for the 200-mile journey from Queensbury, New York to New York City.
“I gave it in the hope that people would enjoy it,” said Neil Lebowitz, whose family donated the tree.

With lower branches stretching 50 feet in diameter, the tree glows with 50,000 colorful lights and is topped with a 900-pound star encrusted with 3 million crystals.
After the holiday, the trees will be sawn to donate to Habitat for Humanity, officials said.
