Information from third parties

We use Google Site Kit, which connects to Google Analytics and Google Search Console, to understand how readers find and use the Site. Comment avatars may be loaded from Gravatar (a service of Automattic Inc.) based on a hashed version of your email address.

2. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We and our partners use them to operate the Site, measure performance through analytics.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and delete existing cookies at any time. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.

You can opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

4. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on consent (non-essential cookies, advertising, newsletters), legitimate interests (analytics, security, spam prevention, improving the Site, balanced against your rights), legal obligation (where we must retain or disclose information by law), and contract (where relevant).

5. Advertising (delete this section if you do not run ads)

We may work with third-party advertising partners, such as Google AdSense, who may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

You can manage personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out, or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out. Users in the EEA and UK can manage choices through our consent banner.

6. How we share information

  • Successors in a business transfer, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
  • Others with your consent or at your direction

Some sharing with advertising and analytics partners can count as a “sale” or “sharing” for targeted advertising under certain U.S. state laws. See Section 9 for your choices.

7. Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above:

  • Comments: until deleted. You may ask us to remove yours.
