A former parliamentary aide accused of spying for China will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Friday, charged with spying.
Nick Price, Head of Special Crime and Counter-Terrorism Division Crown Prosecution ServiceOn Monday, the CPS said it had “today authorized the Metropolitan Police to prosecute two people for espionage”.
He said Christopher Cash, 29, and Christopher Berry, 32, were charged with “providing information detrimental to a foreign country, China, and appeared before Westminster Magistrates on Friday, April 26. He agreed to appear in court.
The two were arrested in March last year under the Official Secrets Act. Cash worked as a parliamentary researcher in Westminster.
Mr. Cash and Mr. Berry could not be reached for comment Monday.
Last September, Cash said in a statement released by his lawyer that he was “completely innocent.”
