Green ejected from Warriors playoff loss after stepping on Sabonis chest | NBA

Golden State forward Draymond Green was ejected from the Warriors’ playoff loss to the Kings after stepping on the chest of Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis.

Play occurred in Q4 Kings win 114-106 in Game 2 of Monday night’s first-round series after Stephen Curry grabbed a defensive rebound.

in defense NBA Green stepped hard into his opponent’s chest as the champion pushed the ball up the court and Sabonis fell to the ground. Sabonis remained silent for several minutes while officials reviewed the play.

“I got my leg grabbed,” said Green, referring to his Game 1 play with Malik Monk. “Second time in two nights.

Sabonis was charged with a technical foul for grabbing Greene’s leg, and Greene was awarded Fragrant 2 fouls, leading to an automatic ejection.

In a post-game interview for TNT, Sabonis said, “We’re both fighting for the rebound. We fell for each other. Things happen. It’s basketball. We have to move on to the next play.” it won’t.”

Kings coach Mike Brown said Sabonis will undergo an x-ray after the game to check his ribs and lungs.

Teammate De’Aaron Fox said, “Of course, I hope my brother is okay.” Drilling or something like that would be a serious injury, so I hope you’re doing the best you can right now.”

During the review, Sacramento fans yelled derogatory chants at Greene, who incited them by waving, putting his hands to his ears for loud cheers, and standing in a chair.

“I was just having fun,” said Green. “It’s a fun game, it’s a fun atmosphere. It’s fun.”

It wouldn’t be the first playoff offense for Green, who received a one-game suspension in the 2016 NBA Finals after piling up too many flagrant fouls in that season’s playoffs. He was also ejected from last season’s playoff game against Memphis.

Green has been sentenced to six flagrant fouls and 27 technical fouls in 147 career playoff games.

The question is whether the play deserves an additional suspension or penalty.

“It will be interesting to see what the NBA does after reviewing,” Brown said.

The Kings closed out the game strongly after Green was ejected. They became the first team in the Stephen Curry era to lead the Warriors to his 2-0. The Warriors will try to get back into the series on Thursday night when he travels 90 miles southwest to San Francisco for Game 3.

“You have to accept it,” Curry said. “As long as we are, you will do this…we must be together and locked up.”

The Foxes scored 24 points and made a painstaking 3-pointer that gave the playoff rookies the Kings two-game win streak.

“I think that brought us together,” said Fox. “We got together and said, ‘We have to win this game. I could deny it.”
