Powerball Jackpot Rises to Record $1.9 Billion : NPR

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The record Powerball jackpot grew to an even bigger $1.9 billion after no one won the lottery on Saturday night.
The numbers drawn were 28, 45, 53, 56 and 69 for the white balls and 20 for the red Powerball.

The new $1.9 billion jackpot is for winners paid out through annuities over 29 years. Lottery winners usually prefer a lump sum of cash, and Monday’s draw will bring him $929.1 million, according to a California lottery site.
Powerball prizes just keep getting bigger and bigger as you can’t beat the long odds of 1 in 292.2 million to win the jackpot. To win the grand prize, a player must match all his 5 white balls and his 1 red Powerball.
There have been 40 draws with no winners since someone won on August 3rd.
Powerball is played in 45 states, plus Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
