Thirteen people, including three children, were injured in a drive-by shooting on Chicago’s West Side Monday night. Dana Kozlov of CBS Chicago reports.Two victims were listed in critical condition.

Police Department David Brown said it was over in about three seconds.

Police said two gunmen in a dark SUV fired randomly into a crowd gathering on a street corner and slowed down.

Victims’ conditions range from non-life-threatening to severe, Brown said.

Three, 11 and 13-year-olds were shot, he noted. The rest he was an adult in his 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.

A 14th person who tried to flee the scene was hit by a car, police added.

Victims were taken to several hospitals.

Police were looking for the shooter, but knew nothing of the motive. The corner where the shooting took place has no history of crashes, Brown said.

Part of the incident was caught on surveillance cameras, and detectives hope the victim will provide more information.

Police said the crowd was staying up all night. Alderman Jason Irvin told CBS Chicago that he was for someone who recently died of natural causes.

“It’s heartbreaking when people go out to mourn someone and then become victims,” ​​Ervin said.

A witness told CBS Chicago that a man was apparently shot in the head.
