TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew responded to comments made by Donald Trump on Friday’s Supreme Court decision to ban the app in the U.S. In a video posted on TikTok, Chew said, “On behalf of everyone at TikTok and all users across the country, I want Thank you to President Trump for his commitment to working with us to find a solution to make TikTok available in the United States. This is a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship. TikTok appears to be relying on Trump’s support to keep the platform legal in the United States. Trump clearly wants everyone to see him as the savior of TikTok, posting on Truth Social that he is in talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping about finding a way to save the platform. “We are grateful and happy to have the support of a true president know our platform, who have used TikTok to express their own thoughts and perspectives, connect with the world and generate more than 60 billion views of content in the process, ” continued mamah. “Rest assured, we will do everything we can to ensure our platform moves forward… More to come.” Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that the ban on TikTok will be enforced. Currently, it is not certain whether TikTok will shut down the app for users in the US this Sunday or if the app plans to wait and see if the Trump administration can negotiate a resolution.
