Dave and Buster's, an arcade, sports bar and restaurant, will allow guests to bet on games like Skee-ball through the app.

The entertainment chain announced Tuesday a partnership with gamification software maker Lukla to offer betting features to Dave and Buster guests.

The chain's 5 million loyalty members can compete against other arcade users to win rewards and what it calls “exclusive perks.”

The technology will be available at all 223 Dave & Buster's stores across the U.S., so friends can, for example, play Hot Shots and bet on who will sink the most baskets.

“We are excited to work with Lukla to bring this exciting new gaming platform to our customers,” Simon Murray, senior vice president of entertainment and attractions at Dave & Busters, said in a statement Tuesday. Ta. “This new partnership strengthens our commitment to providing our loyalty members with an unparalleled gaming experience in real-time and continuing to improve the customer experience through innovative, cutting-edge technology.”

Neither Dave & Busters nor Lukla immediately responded to CBS MoneyWatch's requests for comment about how much money guests can bet at once.

Betting on professional sports has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry, while social betting platforms have also emerged that allow people to bet with cryptocurrencies. Some critics say it can encourage bad habits and gambling problems in young people.
